Boycott Arizona!
Message from the Trenches of Arizona
Open Letter to Our Partners in
Solidarity in Chicago, adherents of the Huelga del Pueblo:
For the Committees in Defense of the
Barrios, the Huelga del Pueblo, Arizona is resistance to the blatant
immoral and racist collusion among the McCain family with its their
distributor, Hensley, for beer brands Budweiser/ Budlight and
exclusive contract between Budweiser and Vicente Fernandez. The fact
is deplorable, unacceptable due first to the financing that makes
Budweiser towards funding Republican politicians and public officials
like Sheriff Arpaio, Russell Pearce. Second, it is deplorable that
Vicente Fernandez, representative of Mexican culture, is the
accomplice of hateful discrimination, persecution and criminalization
of the community to which he belongs.
Therefore:
We condemned the presence of Vicente
Fernandez and demonstrated publicly in front of the U.S. Airways
where he appeared to break the boycott. In Chicago, we now condemn
his presence because before mentioned although it is not in Arizona.
We are in solidarity with our brothers
in Chicago in their resistance in response to the great support they
showed us even before Vicente Fernandez presented himself in Arizona.
A fraternal greeting to the brothers in
Chicago and the rest of the country where the presence of Vicente
Fernandez is protested.
Thank you,
On behalf of The Barrio Defense
Committee in Phoenix, Arizona

Phoenix, Arizona |

Chicago Calls for Vicente Fernandez to Respect AZ Boycott!
10-5-11 CWC has communicated with Mr. Fernandez through his agent, Aragon/Viva Entertainment, to inform him that the CWC will not attend Fernandez's October 23 concert in Rosemont, IL unless he:
* Issues a statement that he severs his
contract with Budweiser and pledge to not renew that contract or
continue business with Budweiser.
* Donates all of the proceeds
from the June 10th concert in Phoenix to civil rights groups.
* Issues a formal apology to the Latino
Community for violating the Arizona Boycott and pledge to never
perform in states with harsh anti-immigrant and anti-Latino laws
including Arizona and Alabama as long as such legislation stands.
* Respects that Cook County is one of the many
cities/counties that has pledged support to the Boycott Arizona
movement. Though his presence is not welcome on October 23rd, we ask that Mr. Fernandez donate at least half of his
proceeds from the concert to organizations on the forefront of the
fight against these racist laws. |

CWC joins call for Vicente Fernandez to Respect AZ Boycott; Cancel Phoenix Performance
06-09-11
- One of Mexico's most famous Mariachi singers, Vicente Fernandez,
refused to cancel his upcoming concert in Phoenix, scheduled for June
10th. Last week, CWC Executive Director, Leone Jose Bicchieri, reached
out to Aragon Entertainment, Chicago-based promoters of the Vicente
Fernandez's Phoenix show. In an interview with HOY Newspapers, Leone
stated, "Mexicans and Latinos here in Chicago have fought hard to
condemn the racist, anti-Latino laws in Arizona. We cannot ignore the
calls of our brothers and sisters who suffer daily the aggresion and
violence of racists, starting the Governor (Jan Brewer) of Arizona. If
Vicente Fernando really is the "Charro de Mexico" (Mexico's Cowboy),
it's time for him to show it."
